Wonderful Sardinia Island, hike and bike between sea and mountains – 8 days
| Sardinia is the Italian island famous for wilderness landscape both in the mountains and along the coastline. Biking between mountain and sea you can stop in many wild beaches for bathing the incredible clear water surrounded by Nature. With some hiking excursions we can reach unic valley with steep canyons and deep Mediterranean forest … and not last reaching the marvelous beach of Cala Luna. This 8 days program is leaded by an Italian geologist, expert with the area, who will introduce you about the traditions, the nature and the incredible rich geological wonders.
DAILY PROGRAMD1 – Meeting of the group in Olbia or Algero airport, transfer in the Hotel Villa Maris in San Teodoro beach (Area midway between Olbia and Orosei- East Coast). This area hide some of the beautifull pinky sand beaches. Set up of the rented bikes and first short ride and bath on the crystalline waters. Dinner at the restaurant.
D2 – Breakfast in the hotel, then we will start biking along the coast southwards reaching famous beach as like Ottiolu, Budoni and Tannauella (20 km) where we could have our lunch and bath into the sea. Afterwards we will cross some hills to reach the Posada Lake as to have a first wieuw of the inside country (12 km) After 10 km we will reach our Hotel in Posada where we rest on the beach to enjoy a swim in to the sea (total 42 km). Hotel and dinner.
D3 – Breakfast in the hotel. The biking ride will run on the edge of a very wild coast between Mediterranean bushes and white sand beaches famous as Capo Comino, Cala Ginepro and Cala Liberotto. This area is also famous for its beautiful pine tree forest and for salted lake named “Salina Manna” (the big salt resource). Lunch on the beach between small sand dunes and low Mediterranean trees. The road will cross some up and down hills as it will be possible to have a great view of the incredible blue sea bathing this coast. After 50 km we will reach the little town of Orosei, and our hotel on the sea. Time for visiting some traditional shops and dinner in a restaurant.
D4 – Breakfast in the hotel then we will bike inland to visit some tipical farm of the ancient Sardinian stile, till reaching one of the most beautifull beach: Cala Cartoe. Lunch in a beautifull setting and time for a bath into the clear sea water. In the afternoon after crossing a cutted mountain we will enter the incredible roky annphiteather of the Cala Gonone Bay. Hotel Palmasera with bar and pool hanging on the sea, dinner at the restaurant.
D5 – Daily trekking. As to visit this coast we cant go by bike, but the only way is on foot or by boat, we will trek a little and then will return by boat: after an impressive road by 4×4 we reach the wild area some ancient sheepard site named “Cuiles Buchi Arta”; then we will enter in the canyon carved in the limestone and filled by tipical mediterranean flora, till the most famous beach of “Cala Luna” (2 hours walking desending) a wonderfull “caribbean beach” with unic turquoise water. Packed lunch on the beach and time for rest and bath. In the afternoon a boat will pick us up to go back by the sea with wonderfull landscape on the vertical white cliffs and caves. We enter into the “bue marino” caves, last paradise for the mediterranean monk seals. Here we will walk into the cave for 1 chilometers in a great world of stony scultures ! Again by boat we will reach the harbour of Cala Gonone and by walking to the hotel. Free time for a dinner downtown.
D6 – Breakfast in the hotel, then by 4×4 we will cross the mountains till reaching an another wild area with great landscape on the Sardinian mountains. We desend a narrow footpath till reaching the famous all over Europe Gorropu Canyon, a cut into the mountains with 400 meters high walls. We walk inside for 1 hour among incredible smoth stones ! Afternoon back to the hotel and time for realaxing. Evening dinner in a special country restaurant.
D7 – Free time for bath, relaxing or … if you like your Guide will bring you by canoe along the cost discovering narrow beach and little caves …
D8 – Transfer to the airport.
